WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AT LAKE CITY DANCE ARTS?
Lake City Dance Arts offers various kinds of dance for ages 3 through adult. We take dance training seriously while providing an atmosphere that makes learning fun. Dance is an activity that provides many benefits, physically as well as emotionally for your child. Dance is a disciplined art so we consider dress codes, class attendance and punctuality important aspects of dance training. Our classes begin one week after public schools start and continue through May with a recital presented in June to let the students share what they have learned over the nine-month training period. We have beginners of all ages and group new dancers by age so older dancers are not in younger classes.
We are a member of IDEA (International Dance Entrepreneurs Association). This organization has a Code of Ethics that encourages studios to maintain healthy ideals in working with children including age-appropriate movement, music and costuming, having a qualified staff and adhering to sound business principals of integrity.
WHAT CLASSES ARE AVAILABLE?
3 year old Ballet: (Must be 3 by September 1st)
Combo Ballet & Tap Classes: Ages 4 through Kindergarten
Elementary thru Adult classes: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Pointe
Occasional classes offered: Ballroom, Middle Eastern, West African and Yoga with certified instructor Sharon Richards.
We believe it is important for our students to use their gift of dance to help others. We participate in many community activities each year including the March of Dimes, Mall Performances, nursing home visits, Columbia County School events, The Christian Service Center, Catholic Charities, CARC, Girl Scouts and more. We also work with Dance Alive National Ballet in presenting a community Nutcracker every two years. Our Praise in Motion dance ministry is involved in many outreach events for various churches and charity events.
Our annual Charity Recital Showcase brings awareness to community programs needing financial as well as volunteer support. Organizations that have been recognized include PNH Research Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research, Hospice’s Camp Safe Haven, The United Methodist Children’s Home, Columbia County Library and this year special needs services in Columbia County (CARC, ARC, Columbia County School’s special needs classes).
WE BELIEVE YOU AND YOUR CHILD SHOULD DECIDE TOGETHER IF YOU WILL BE ABLE TO COMMIT TO THIS ACTIVITY. THE BIGGEST INVESTMENT IN DANCE IS YOUR TIME AND EFFORT. WE WANT THIS TO BE A VERY REWARDING EXPERIENCE FOR YOUR CHILD.
